Why do you need to wait before plugging in a Polar fridge for the first time?
During transportation, compressor oil can get into the refrigerant lines. If the unit is switched on during this time, the compressor could pump without enough oil, potentially causing significant damage. By letting the unit settle for around 12 hours following transportation, the risk of damage is minimised. Check the user manual for further details.
Why do fridge fans turn off when you open the door?
Many commercial fridges have fans to promote airflow around the inside of the cabinet. However if you open the door, fans can have a negative effect of pushing cool air out. By automatically cutting the fan when the door is open, the fridge saves energy and keeps a more consistent internal temperature.
